So everyone knows that the Tour de France is starting in Yorkshire for 2014 and how exciting that’s going to be. Stage 1 starts in Leeds finishing 190km later in Harrogate. Stage 2 starts in York finishing 200km later in Sheffield, my home town. Well I had some exciting news over Christmas as I was asked to be part of the filming for the advertisement of Le Tour de France festival at Harewood House for Le Grand Depart.
My role in the advert was to be a cycling fan, along with Josh Cutler. My first day of filming had me and josh writing in chalk on the road, names of riders that will be competing in the race. Lizzie Armitstead then appears on her bike and asks us to follow her to watch the start of the race. It was a freezing morning filming at Harewood House but the filming was finished in no time.
The second day of filming was inside the house. I felt very privileged to be even allowed in the house as everything was original and hundreds of years old. The owner of the House, Lord Harewood even made an appearance to see the making of the advert. And I was later informed that he himself has a BAFTA so he definitely knew a thing or two when it came to directing.
My scene was waking up in the house to find the festival outside. I felt very honoured as everyone informed me that the bed I would be lying in had only ever been slept in by Queen Victoria and Queen Mary and now me 🙂 … just call me Queen J-Wak 😉 even Lady Harewood made an appearance to witness someone in the bed.
The advert also features Ned Boulting and Oscar Pereiro so it was pretty cool hanging out with them. After a long day, the filming was finally complete. It was such a fun experience, totally new and exciting.
